Hollywood Nailz Is the Greatest Show on YouTube

It's been out for a sec but, like, so far Seth Bogart's (that's Hunx of His Punx fame) rock 'n' roll variety show has under a skrillion views and that is not enough views. It's only on the first episode but it has Shannon and the Clams and Grass Widow in a battle of the bands and star turns from Nobunny and King Khan and just loads of beautiful people. I cannot wait until the next episode. There has to be a next episode. IFC needs to pick this up right now and I don't want to hear another word about Girls. There are plenty of girls in Hollywood Nailz.

(Full disclosure/gloating: I contributed to the Kickstarter for this so now I have the episode on DVD and an autographed picture of Seth Bogart and Brande Bytheway. I can't decide if I want to keep it or give it away in a Bad Idea Potluck sweepstakes.)

So Excited!

Amazing shit whizzes past my head on a daily basis now. Like I just saw M.O.T.O and Baby Shakes at this sweet new bar called St. Vitus. If I really cared about you I would have taken pictures. But sometimes I kind of just want to watch the show.

Still, I vow to rationalize what I post on here. Somehow. In the meantime, here's some Hunx and His Punx/Shannon and the Clams porn:

Hunx and His Punx Watch!

I swoon because Hunx and His Punx are coming out with an whole entire album! It's called Too Young to Be in Love! Here's a link to the single "Lover's Lane," but everything you could want to know about the album is at Hardly Art, and that includes links to all the attention Hunx is getting lately.

Everyone from The New York Times to Italian Vogue is pissing themselves over him. I guess there is some justice in the world.

The line on the album is that it was recorded in a studio where Ronnie Spector once recorded and that it was recorded by Ivan Julian, founding member of Richard Hell and the Voidoids. Nice backdrop.

Shannon Shaw of Shannon and The Clams is in the band now, and dang. I'll review the album a bit later (It's not out 'til March, jeez.), but I can tell you that it rules and you totally want to see Hunx and the Punkettes perform all the songs on there live. I know I will see them sometime soon, and it'll be totally transcendent when I do. The Hunx and His Punx show was about all I could handle last time when I saw them in Atlanta.

And, speaking of shows, the more important detail is that Seth Bogart (That's Hunx, silly!) has a Kickstarter page to raise money for a show he wants to make with a nice lady named Brande Bytheway called "Hollywood Nails." They've got five days to raise more than $1,000, but I really hope they do because, well, this picture tells me all I need to know:

I'm going to go spastically pledge money now and fantasize that this show is on IFC all the time.

UPDATE! Project funded! I'm supposed to get a mix CD out of this deal so watch for further developments.

S 'n' M/Rock 'n' Roll

Maybe this is turning into the Vacation Gallery and Boutique blog, but whatever. The rest of Atlanta just needs to step up its game. Vacation just happens to be where Hunx and his Punx was playing. It's also where Zombie Edie Sedgwick hangs out. This is not my fault.

Balkans opened and spread the sweet crooner punk around. They crawl a little deeper under my skin every time I see them.

And then Hunx and His Punx is pretty much the point of everything. As you can see the radness was a little hard to capture on film. That's how intense it was. It was the punkest pop music ever. And the really hot audience members were treated to the kiss of Seth Bogart's dainty leather flail. (Not pictured.) Threesomes were planned during the set. There's an LP out now. I didn't have cash for it so I'll have to take my chances on finding it elsewhere. Still, my life is now complete.
