I swoon because Hunx and His Punx are coming out with an whole entire album! It's called Too Young to Be in Love! Here's a link to the single "Lover's Lane," but everything you could want to know about the album is at Hardly Art, and that includes links to all the attention Hunx is getting lately.
Everyone from The New York Times to Italian Vogue is pissing themselves over him. I guess there is some justice in the world.
The line on the album is that it was recorded in a studio where Ronnie Spector once recorded and that it was recorded by Ivan Julian, founding member of Richard Hell and the Voidoids. Nice backdrop.
Shannon Shaw of Shannon and The Clams is in the band now, and dang. I'll review the album a bit later (It's not out 'til March, jeez.), but I can tell you that it rules and you totally want to see Hunx and the Punkettes perform all the songs on there live. I know I will see them sometime soon, and it'll be totally transcendent when I do. The Hunx and His Punx show was about all I could handle last time when I saw them in Atlanta.
And, speaking of shows, the more important detail is that Seth Bogart (That's Hunx, silly!) has a Kickstarter page to raise money for a show he wants to make with a nice lady named Brande Bytheway called "Hollywood Nails." They've got five days to raise more than $1,000, but I really hope they do because, well, this picture tells me all I need to know:
I'm going to go spastically pledge money now and fantasize that this show is on IFC all the time.
UPDATE! Project funded! I'm supposed to get a mix CD out of this deal so watch for further developments.
