Times New Viking has a super cute music video for the song "Ever Falling in Love." I think it's about art. Besides, being cute, it's also set in the dystopian future world of New Cleveland, but, other than that, neither the video nor the song is at all what you would expect. There's not a lot of noise and they've gotten pretty good at their instruments -- but it still has that great seesawing, weaving thing going on that makes all their songs fun.
Look, it happens. You have a little too much to drink one night, one thing leads to another, and before you know it you've recorded your album in a proper studio.
That's more or less what happened with the band's new album Dancer Equired. You can read all about their more or less conscious decision to not be such a damned mess over at Ifc.com.
After listening to Dancer Equired, I am terrified that they're going to turn into Matt and Kim, but I won't say I'm not enjoying this introduction to their melodic underpinnings. It's like having a friend who has always had this enormous beard, right? Then one day he shaves it off. After your eyes adjust, you're like, "Hey man, has anyone ever told you that you kind of look like Kevin Spacey?"
